About Bottega Roma 18

Where historic Italian architecture meets modern abstract expressionism.

The Concept & Philosophy

Located in the historic center of Bomarzo, Italy, Bottega Roma 18 is an independent art studio, gallery, and open atelier created by visual artist Maksim Gorshkov.

The space is built around the concepts of existential dualism, metamorphosis, and emotional rebirth. The abstract and semi-abstract artworks created here do not impose a single rigid interpretation; instead, they act as visual catalysts—inviting viewers to project their own feelings, memories, and personal stories onto the canvas.

The Artist: Maksim Gorshkov

Maksim Gorshkov’s creative journey spans a lifetime of visual exploration. Beginning with precision pencil drawing and digital experimentation, his practice underwent a profound transformation upon moving to Rome in 2020, where he embraced the tactile depth of oil and acrylic painting.

His background bridges conceptual fine art with structured creative management:

  • Master in Fashion and Design ManagementRome Business School

  • Modern and Contemporary Art and Design CertificateMoMA / Coursera

Maksim’s works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, including Rome, Berlin, Naples, and Viterbo.

The Space at Via Roma 18

Set within a two-story historic venue featuring traditional vaulted ceilings (volte a botte), Bottega Roma 18 functions as a living art ecosystem:

  • Open Atelier: Experience the creative process firsthand as new canvases come to life.

  • Exhibition Gallery: Discover a curated collection of original oil and acrylic paintings available for private acquisition.

  • Art Workshops: Engage in intimate, immersive painting masterclasses designed for both beginners and art lovers visiting Bomarzo.

"The composition feels perfectly resolved yet open, inviting the viewer to stay and look longer."
